Walkthrough:

Your basic facilities should be in order at this point. You'll need to add beds and a few recreational objects for the new arrivals but, for the most part, you'll be concentrating on bringing in resources and building more defenses. Continue selling iron and chicken for credits.

Start Stig mining and place a second iron extractor as soon as possible. To keep both rigs clear of the acidwings, which approach from the southeast, position them either to the west or southwest of the base.

Space bikes and automatic lasers are now available. You won't need many lasers, since they don't target acidwings, but you might place another one near your airlock to prevent other pests from getting in. Military radar is expensive, but it will alert you to the incoming acidwings. Buy it if you want. Place more power plants as needed.

Sentinels will be your main defense. Place the sentinel posts themselves close to the base on the west, northwest or northeast side. Again, this is to keep them away from the acidwings.

Here's a handy trick to strengthen your defensive perimeter: Place a line of three or four small bio domes along the southeast edge of the base, a bit forward of any other structures. Position them close together but not touching so that a sentinel patrol marker and a light can fit between each pair (as shown in the second of these screenshot). The acidwings will then attack the domes, giving the sentinels time to kill them. You'll need to replace a dome every now and then, but they are cheaper than lights or patrol markers and last much longer.

As more acidwings arrive, and the eggs they've laid hatch, the attacks will escalate. Add sentinels when you can afford them. By the end of the mission, you should have 4 to 6 sentinels and a double line of patrol markers down near the wall of small domes. This should be enough to fend off even a large swarm of acidwings.

When things get busy, pause the game and direct your colonists as needed. Then concentrate on maintaining your defenses. Sit tight and wait for the clock to tick down.
